If you didn’t make it out tonight to the Pierce Mattie/Coutorture Roundtable on blogging and public relations
The panel was a huge success and I think everyone learned a lot of lessons. It was so heartwarming to see publicists and bloggers interacting constructively. The entire Pierce Mattie team did a fantastic job with the event and I am just thrilled with the turnout. Publicists from all of the top firms and many fantastic brands showed up to learn, ask questions, and give feedback.
While there is still some confusion about blogging and new media in general, I saw so much desire to tap into the blogosphere and learn how to engage us as a community. The value of what we do is now very apparent to both marketers and publicists and I believe this to be a good thing. They know that as bloggers our audiences trust us and that in turn we have real relationships with our readers. We command engaged and valuable audiences and that gives us power. But with power comes responsibility. Blogging has had an extended adolescence but I believe it is now time for all of us to grow up and become accountable. We have always been accountable to our audiences but now we need to learn to interact with brands and publicists in ways that are respectful and genuine so that they too can interact with us in the same vein.
Check out the super cool photo background with the Coutorture logo on it. I felt like a little celeb standing in front of this banner with Kristen Herburger, Phil, and Pierce Mattie.
It is a damn good thing I used a lot of color with my cheek makeup because the lights really wash you out. When I got home all I wanted to do was moisturize. I plopped on my Zia Moisture Repair Serum and it just burrowed right into my pores. Ahhhhhh! And for those of you keeping track yes that is a Pierce Mattie repped product. They couldn’t leave me under all those bright lights without an appropriate source of moisture to repair my skin after now could they?

Julie…I want to thank you for citing my blog as your top niche favourite. I read the transcript through. Seriously, I’m truly touched by your support. It has really made my day.
The issues you spoke about regarding publicists and the way blogging can work as a media was all very insightful and interesting. These are issues which I’m slowly starting to have to grapple with everyday. I think this is a brilliant step towards establishing a good understanding between publicist and bloggers.
