Recently I was browsing though old photos from last Fashion Week when I ran across a photo of myself in the tents. I feel like things have changed so much since February. It has been literally years in internet time since the fall collections were shown and yet this photo only feels a little dated to me.
Sure my hair is a little better and my styling has improved but my outward appearance in this photo feels so little different from my basic outward appearance these days that I was taken aback. Have I not changed at all? And yet emotionally I feel like a completely different person. The moniker of “almost” has come to mean “one thing or the other” rather than “not quite successful.” I remember feeling like such an outsider last Fashion Week and now I am already feeling confident about the level of access and success we bloggers will have at this coming Fashion Week. Through Coutorture we will have photographes, videos, and access to all of the shows. Last Fashion Week I was too scared to ask for much of anything, this Fashion Week I am ready to do battle for access.
So I would like all of us to reflect just a little on how things have changed since the last time fashion reinvented itself. Where were you 6 months ago? Do you feel like the same person or am I the only one who has lived an entire life in half a year?

wow, i could do an entire blog post on this topic.
i never thought i would have started http://www.stereoette.com.
i never thought i would be rethinking whether i want to work at a law firm for the rest of my life.
i never thought i would have found so many creative people to be friends with in this city.
i could go on, but… i’ll save it for my own blog.
I think it’s partly a function of age, but I also have seen a great change in you and your voice since February. You are more confident (less “almost”), but you are also more open and curious.
Also, while I don’t understand how you are making a living at this, you are not being forced to change direction every few days as a result of “job” changes. That gives you a great opportunity to focus on things, which in turns allows you to see things more deeply.
Influence, Change, and Thoughts on Fashion Blogging…
The online fashion world has definitely opened up to me and I would have never been in contact with any of these wonderful fashion-minded, business-minded, and creative people had I not started writing for The Runway Scoop….
lovely photo! have fun at the fashionweek… =)
