Because I feel you can’t read a blog without knowing the blogger, an introduction to Julie Fredrickson is in order.

I am wearing a Shrimpton Couture vintage plaid shirtdress.
The blog is titled Almost Girl because I too often feel like I am “almost” one thing or the other but never really fitting into one category.
I am “almost” a traditional fashionista (except that I eat), I am “almost” an elite college graduate (I am a University of Chicago alumna) I lead an “almost” normal life except I keep turning down “real” jobs and instead prefer to live the life of the entrepreneur. Thankfully I manage to find people that prefer my flexible thinking.
I am always “almost” able to get a grip on myself before another new facet emerges. I often feel like I have “almost” made it in the eyes of society. But then the little details that take away from “perfect” and bring me back to “almost.” Since I am always an “almost” I figure that I should bring together those “almost” categories and find perfection in their synergy. Thus Plato and Prada find a joint home in Almost Girl.
The goal of Almost Girl is to pursue a more serious inquiry into fashion and its impact on our lives through sociology, culture, economics, and many other wild tangents. Here you will find musings on public intellectual life, lifestyle, trends, and of course a lot of fashion coverage! Please enjoy

[...] I’m looking forward to attending Zoe’s big night at the Gen-Art finals (see her entry here… so incredible), shadowing Julie as she covers fashion events, and gawking like a tourist at the bigness of it all… did you know New York City has the same population as my entire country? I really want to visit the Met and see AngloMania. I know there’s a million other things to see in NYC but if there is any must-go locations for a fashionophile, let me know. [...]

[...] As to the rest of you, honest, you just should email, IM, or even call me. I am still a transparent woman. You just have to prove that you are worth being in my life. And frankly the street goes both ways. Don’t be fooled into thinking that all this technology is letting us extend our networks. [...]
