Now that Coutorture has a big new happy family we are working on dreaming up traffic pushing ideas for everyone (sigh the purity of content and the agony of monetization) and we had a thought. I remember organizing the first fashion blogging carnival ever TWO YEARS ago called Black Friday Blogging. It was a huge success and everyone had a lot of fun. Later the Manolo took up the cause with the Carnival of Couture. And now we have programs like Splendicity, Websnobs and Blog Bazaar which is cool for submitting your best link of the week. In short people like links because well we all seem to want traffic.
Our only problem is we don’t like linking for the sake of linking and driving traffic. As much as that is important it takes a lot of the joy and purpose of why we blog. Dialog and community have always been extremely important to Coutorture. That is why I would like to start up a themed discussion each week within Coutorture’s community (though anyone can ask to be invited) on what is most relevant in style at any given time.

Each week we pick a theme (This Fashionable Life perhaps? Any Ira Glass fans in the house?) and everyone interested writes on the subject in whatever capacity they feel is appropriate. Send an email to me julief [at]coutorture [DOT].com subject line Coutorture Salon and we will compile links on a special page on Coutorture. We will then send them out to everyone in our network and you can link, respond, share, and investigate on the theme on partner blogs!
This week’s theme is Luxury and Access. I would suggest taking inspiration from this WSJ piece on affordable luxury markets, and the Luxury Institutes’s 2008 Luxury Horizons Report. We will begin posting the first stories on Monday.

Coutorture did a special interview with Milton Pedraza of The Luxury Institute for the occasion and while it officially doesn’t start until tomorrow we have a few early bird posts ready to go! [...]
