The cat is now out of the proverbial bag! Coutorture has a new family at Sugar Inc! Phil and I have been looking forward to this announcement for sometime now and while we have the official press release we have always believed in the personal touch here at Coutorture so we wanted to share our enthusiasm in a slightly less formal way. We believe we have made great strides since the founding of the network over a year and a half ago thanks to the cheers, jeers hard work and tears of our many incredible members. But with any endeavor, knowing when to take the next step and whom to take it with is critical. And much to our collective joy (and face it, relief!) we found that partner in Sugar Inc.
We have always believed in a service oriented community at Coutorture. Our vision was to help foster the collective vision of the style blogosphere. And by and large we think we have done a good job. The fashion and beauty industries for a long time were closed to outsiders (consumers and fans need not apply) but through the dedicated efforts of hundreds of bloggers the face of fashion coverage has changed forever. Fashion bloggers, beauty bloggers, perfume bloggers, streetstyle bloggers, industry bloggers, and everyone with an eye for aesthetics have shown the world that with dedication, taste, and a little luck anyone can have something worthwhile to say, and furthermore, people will listen! We like to think (and forgive our pride) that this has has been due at least in some part to the efforts of Coutorture. And we firmly believe that these goals will only be furthered now that we are with Sugar Inc.
While we toyed with the idea of many other partners, it was Sugar Inc that we felt most valued our collective ideals of service. Which makes a great deal of sense as they are bloggers just like us. They know the challenges, joys, frustrations, and idiosyncrasies of the medium since they have made it their business.
But one thing that both Phil and I want to stress is that nothing will change! I am still me! Phil is still Phil! Though we suppose that isn’t strictly true as things will start getting a lot better, but the ethos, spirit and standards of Coutorture will be strictly observed. The only difference is that now we will have the resources to pursue our collective goals.
Which is pretty exciting stuff for a bunch of crazy kids used to doing things on a wing and a prayer. Sugar Inc.’s CEO Brian Sugar is just as committed to Coutorture as we (and I mean “we” the community) are and will help us help you! For instance even though no one knew about it at the time it was Sugar that helped us give you free photos and video from fashion week!
We are so excited to be embarking on this journey. We have a literal TON of ideas that we are looking forward to implementing.
But until then we have a little surprise for everyone! Sephora has graciously helped us extend a thank you gift to the entire network. Every single member will get a Sephora Smokey Eye Kit! Its our way of saying “its been great, let’s make it even better!”

We want to see everyone do their BEST smokey eye! We promise to post ours! Goodies for the best one!
Congrats, but do you even need a contest for best smoky eye?

What a relief. I was worried that NYC had finally chewed you up and spit you out and you had to retreat to a healthier place. (That’s what happens to me after being in NYC for more than a weekend.) Hats off to you two for pulling it off. You’ve harnessed the audacity of youth and made an actual impact on the fashion media landscape. Can’t wait to see where you take it next!
Congratulations Julie!!
