Last night I had dinner with Lauren Goldstein Crowe of Portfolio, the only journalist I have ever had the pleasure to meet that is excited to embrace the blogger moniker. Usually bloggers work as hard as they possibly can to get rid of their blogging gigs for say positions at Vanity Fair, New York Mag or The Observer. You know, not anyone in particular, just you know bloggers. Lauren, who knows EVERYONE, frankly doesn’t need to give a shit about climbing social ladders or getting to the inside, since she has been there done that and can just concentrate on doing her thing. With that ethos I feel Lauren and I are birds of the same feather since while I am not well connected I don’t much care for the traditional path to success.

After a pleasant dinner at Balthazaar on Si we made our way to the subways. However, we got stopped by a very curious street team of girls in YSL tees, leggings and ballet flats (they were given outfits). Apparently YSL is now resorting to street teams to canvas “hip down downters” who probably don’t have the money for YSL. Lauren and I were very confused. The poor girl we talked to had a freaking masters degree from a university who has an economics degree that rivals my own alma maters passion for the dismal science (we promised not to reveal her identity but you can probably guess the school). It was pretty strange experience.
That link isn’t working for me.
I spelled Guerilla wrong and had to change the headline, which messes up the links. If you go to my main page http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/fashion-inc, you’ll find it easily enough.
