Sigh, the meme that has been running rampant through the tech blogosphere has hit the fashion blogosphere. Fortunately for this meme one of my favorite bloggers, Rebecca, tagged me which means it will survive another day on Almost Girl.

There’s an internet meme circulating called ‘five things you didn’t know about me’. Here’s how it works:

1. someone tags you,
2. you post five things about yourself that you haven’t already mentioned on your blog,
3. you tag people you’d like to know more about

Things I haven’t mentioned on my blog? Gosh, in almost two years of personal blogging it might be tough to find something that I haven’t blogged about. I worked in medical ethics in college? Nope, mentioned that. I did documentary film production at Chicago’s WTTW? Yeah, mentioned that too. This is tougher than it looks. I think I will take Rebecca’s take on the issue and do fashion things you probably don’t know about me. Except I will reveal fashion secrets that will terrify!

1) When I attended the Ethel Walker School in Connecticut I wore army fatigues to muck out the stalls in the barn. On days when I was particularly cranky or lazy I would wear them to classes since I was forbidden to wear jeans or other casual clothing. But they never said anything about fatigues in the dress code. One day towards the end of the year I completely neglected to note that it was Alumni Day. I was in a really foul mood and was stomping through the halls in my fatigues on the way to class. Apparently I scared a group of older alumni because someone complained that my outfit was “too aggressive” and not fitting for a young lady at a fine educational institution. Thus in my honor “no fatigues” was added to the Ethel Walker Dress Code.

2). I had an Express Credit card that I used to buy a wide array of terrifying mini skirts for my sorority girl phase in college-leopard, camo, fluffy pink fake chiffon, etc.

3) I own a pair of Ann Taylor leather pants. Seriously. Size 4

4) I bought a matching skirt and shirt set of fake Pucci prints from Nordstrom rack. I almost wore them to a baby shower before I came to my senses and threw away the skirt. I kept the top though and sometimes wore it with jeans and bright aqua eyeshadow.

5). I never wore makeup until my freshman year of college

OK so who should I tag? How about Joi, Queen Michelle, Crosby, Zoe, Bernadette, and Susie! That ought to do it.

    Hey, thanks for playing!

Do you ever wear the leather pants? You should! (But maybe not the mini-skirts … )

Just when I was ready to get started on a product review I’ve been putting off! Well, this will be a nice little diversion.

Not wearing makeup isn’t such a crime. It’s better for your skin in the long run or so I hear. I started wearing makeup kind of early (9th grade) and stopped near the end of grade 11. Funny because that’s when most of my friends starting piling on the makeup.

    But anyway, leather pants? Seriouslah?!

  4. [...] 3. As Julie mentioned in her 5 things meme, I also own a pair of pants from Ann Taylor. They are wide legged, high-waisted light black wool. I recently brought them out of my closet at my parent’s house (where things live until they become wearable again) in the hopes that they might be, well, wearable now. Verdict is still out as I have gotten used to a nice 7.5-8 inch rise and am not sure they are long enough. [...]

How does one know if one’s been tagged?
