Fuckin’ Exclusive

As many of you know I dabble in streetwear from time to time, or at very least when my friends’ new collections come out! Thus when my buddy Wrong Wroks made the most layered (in meaning and intent, not actual fabric) hoodie on the block I just knew I had to have it.

Julie Fredrickson Wearing Wrong Wroks

I wore it out yesterday to the McDonald’s fashion show because really does any other event really warrant a hoodie that cheeky? I have a lot of respect for the work the WR does. A lot of streetwear likes to play with ideals of celebrity, culture, and exclusion but WR does it with style and a lot of humour. Take for instance his new Fake Celebrity concept and line. The idea isn’t that sophisticated but the intent speaks volume about where we all stand in fashion today. Unlike some companies that either over intellectualize fashion or don’t put any meaning in anywhere WR just does what he does and it makes sense. Plus how can you fault a guy that put that many crystals on one hoodie by hand?

I’ve been reading for a while (I am bad about posting comments, I really enjoy your writing) but I love that sweater! I can’t see it on the website, unlikely to get it right? Perhaps that’s the point?

I find it offensive and crude…I have never got the display of the “F” word
as being style…but to each his owne and I will defend one to the max for freedom to display it …I just think it is poor taste..call me old school

I agree with Jeff. I find it very crude. I wouldn’t be waxing too much about owning a piece like that.

If someone didn’t know about this intelligent blog of yours and what you have accomplished so far, they just might categorize you unfairly.

I suggest you you retire the shirt.

And I would suggest that the older men who visit my site regularly get the joke. Y’all ain’t exactly bastions of taste when you consider your watchful nature of me on this site. Even if people don’t know about my regular work they can see the humour in this shirt given our current fashio climate.

It’s graphics on apparel like this that contribute to the current fashion climate, no doubt.

I suppose the angle some people may take is that the girl wearing the obscene hoodie on her blog just posted a not so flattering story on a major American corporation that made mention of the “stiff “style of the company’s event PR person.

If I am with McDonalds, I just might dismiss your commentary a bit quicker after seeing you in that hoody.

It’s not just older men that might not get the humour in apparel like this, I imagine a much larger segment might find it distasteful as well.
